Turning a Designer Ethnic-Wear Label into a Predictable D2C Growth Engine. How BrandMonkey turned Tulsi Studio Lifestyle’s craftsmanship-led ethnic-wear range into a scalable D2C engine — running an always-on, Meta-led paid programme powered by product shoots and model shoot creative, tightened against realised revenue and repeat purchase.
Tulsi Studio Lifestyle — a designer ethnic-wear label for the modern Indian woman
(lehengas, sarees, kurta sets, sharara and Anarkali silhouettes, plus the handcrafted Batva potli range)
— partnered with BrandMonkey to turn craftsmanship into predictable online sales at scale, rather than
depending on organic discovery and occasion timing.
Over a 6-month, always-on programme (Nov 2024 – Apr 2025),
BrandMonkey built a Meta-led acquisition engine — Instagram and Facebook at the core,
amplified by model shoots and product photography. The engine generated
150+ tracked orders worth
₹16L+ in sales on
₹2.97 Lakh of ad spend — a
5.45× Sales Campaign ROAS, with a standout
7.15× peak during the festive window.
Crucially, this was built as a year-round, always-on presence rather than a single festive burst — giving Tulsi Studio a predictable, data-led pipeline it could scale, showing balanced monthly spend growth, reaching a peak ROAS of 7.15× during peak season.
Tulsi Studio Lifestyle is a homegrown designer ethnic-wear brand positioned as “more than a brand — a celebration of rich Indian traditions seamlessly woven into the fabric of modern life.”
Every piece is built around intricate craftsmanship — thread embroidery, mirror work, sequins and gold detailing — on premium fabrics, styled for weddings, festive occasions and celebratory moments.
The range is organised into curated, seasonally-themed collections rather than an undifferentiated catalogue: Utsav Collection — the heritage, festive-and-wedding line (approx. ₹14,600–₹27,400), the brand’s high-value hero pieces; Garden Muse — nature-inspired, Indo-Western romantic silhouettes (approx. ₹16,800–₹26,250) for the modern occasion wardrobe; Batva Collection — handcrafted potli bags and hand-work purses, the accessory line that lifts basket size; and Top Trending — the customer-favourite entry points (approx. ₹8,200–₹27,400) that convert first-time buyers.
Tulsi Studio had everything a designer label needs to win — genuine craftsmanship, a distinctive aesthetic, and a premium price it could justify. What it did not yet have was a predictable, profitable way to turn that into online sales at scale.
We built the targeting strategy around who actually buys a premium, occasion-led ethnic-wear piece — not everyone who casually likes a pretty lehenga post.
Core buyer: women 25–45 investing in occasion wear for themselves and their families, with the disposable income for a ₹8,000–₹27,000+ piece.
Geography: pan-India D2C — metros as the volume core, extending to tier-2 cities and the NRI/diaspora audience shopping Indian occasion wear from abroad.
Behaviour- and interest-based prospecting on Meta (ethnic wear, designer brands, wedding planning, festive shopping), targeting women who want designer craftsmanship and a distinctive look — and are open to a premium, curated alternative to mass-market ethnic wear and fast fashion.
Not every click was a good-fit buyer. As volume scaled, recurring patterns showed up in the data that needed to be addressed head-on rather than ignored:
Problem: A share of traffic wanted a fast-fashion price and bounced at the ticket.
Solution: Messaging was adjusted to lead with why Tulsi costs more — hand embroidery, fabric quality, designer detailing — so the premium read as value, not markup.
Problem: A high-ticket, visual category means first-click conversions are rare.
Solution: We leaned on proof — model try-ons, high-resolution product shoots, drape-and-detail video and the exchange promise — to build trust before asking for the sale.
Problem: Fit gaps drive apparel returns, COD orders cancel more often, and occasion wear can be a single purchase.
Solution: Clear size guidance, direct WhatsApp fit assistance, and honest on-model video cut avoidable returns; prepaid was grown to reduce cancellations; retargeting and CRM around new drops lifted repeat purchase.
India’s ethnic-wear market is split between cheap, mass-produced festive wear and fast fashion on one end, and inaccessible couture on the other. Tulsi Studio was positioned deliberately in between — designer craftsmanship and a distinctive aesthetic at a premium-but-attainable price, for the woman who wants to look considered, not mass-market.
This positioning shaped every layer of the campaign — from channel mix to content style — ensuring Tulsi Studio was marketed as the craft-led, designer choice rather than competing purely on price.
The strategy was built on one core principle: consistency beats intensity. Rather than short, high-spend bursts around festive sales, we built an always-on, Meta-led presence that captured both occasion demand and everyday discovery, and improved efficiency month over month.
Within the broader premium-ethnic-wear target, distinct occasion segments were messaged separately rather than treated as one generic “ethnic wear” audience:
Messaging focused on statement craftsmanship, exclusivity and “the piece for your moment”; creative leaned on Utsav hero pieces, close-up detail and model try-ons of full looks.
Festive shoppers were messaged to the calendar (Navratri, Diwali, Karwa Chauth) with styling reels and shop-the-look bundles; everyday-luxe leaned on versatile Garden Muse silhouettes and on-model product shoots.
To maximize conversion efficiency for high-ticket ethnic wear, we structured a multi-stage funnel that guides prospective buyers seamlessly from discovery to consultation and checkout:
For high-ticket ethnic wear, buyers often seek personal consultation before purchasing. We launched campaigns specifically for Direct Messages (DMs) to handle enquiries and integrated a dedicated WhatsApp CTA for size and fitting guidance.
Strategy: We ran targeted campaigns dedicated specifically to generating Direct Message enquiries, inviting prospects to chat directly about design details, availability, and styling.
Impact: Generating direct enquiries allowed our team to provide personalized consultations, converting inquisitive leads into completed orders directly via messages.
Strategy: To remove online sizing doubts for premium ethnic wear, we added a direct WhatsApp CTA across ad creatives and landing pages for one-on-one size and fitting advice.
Impact: Direct fitting consultation eliminated buyer hesitation, increased checkout conversion rates, and significantly reduced avoidable post-purchase size returns.
Creative was built to sell craftsmanship and overcome high-ticket hesitation fast — buyers investing in a premium occasion piece want to see drape, detail and proper fit on models, not just flat product shots.
The single biggest performance lever in a visual, high-trust category was the high-quality visual content. Rather than relying on basic catalog stills, we built a steady pipeline of model shoots and product detail videos fed straight into paid ads.
The takeaway was consistent across the account: in a category built on aspiration and trust, seeing pieces worn on models with clear fabric drape beats simple flat lays. Buyers responded far more to “see it worn, see it move” than to catalogue imagery.
Spend showed steady, balanced monthly growth — scaling up step-by-step as creative performance and targeting hit peak efficiency — capturing expanding demand across the full Nov 2024 – Apr 2025 window, reaching a peak 7.15× ROAS and 48 orders in April 2025.

| Mar 2025 | ₹61,016 | 36 | ₹3,85,254 | 6.31× |
| Apr 2025 Peak Season | ₹71,468 | 48 | ₹5,10,876 | 7.15× |
| Total (6 Months, Meta) | ₹2,97,295 | 152 (150+) | ₹16,18,744 (₹16L+) | 5.45× |
Figures sourced directly from the Meta ad account (Nov 2024 – Apr 2025). Order value is Meta-attributed purchase conversion value; Sales Campaign ROAS is order value on ad spend. Volume and ROAS scaled steadily over the 6-month period, reaching its peak season performance of 7.15× ROAS and 48 orders in April 2025 while maintaining balanced growth throughout.
Instagram & Facebook — the primary demand and discovery engine for a visual category, amplified by model shoots and product photography.
Direct Message (DM) campaigns and WhatsApp fitting consultations served as key high-intent conversion channels alongside website checkouts, driving personalized sales and fitting guidance for high-ticket ethnic wear.
Across the 6-month window, the always-on engine delivered a strong 5.45× Sales Campaign ROAS on ₹2.97 Lakh of disciplined spend, with a peak of 7.15× in April — proof the data-driven model delivered balanced, compounding growth as spend scaled.
Volume alone was never the goal — every optimisation decision was checked against whether it improved the quality and realised value of orders, not just the count.
This order-level tracking — not just top-of-funnel count — is what let us confirm the campaigns were bringing in customers with real intent, not just cheap clicks.
Beyond the ad-account metrics, this engagement changed how Tulsi Studio grows in the Indian market:
Consecutive months of always-on spend gave the team a stable base to plan inventory, drops and fulfilment around, while a 5.45× Sales Campaign ROAS proved craft could be sold profitably online.
With full visibility into spend and outcomes, Tulsi Studio could evaluate marketing performance on hard numbers rather than impressions or guesswork.
Real-customer voices reinforce the same craftsmanship and service story used across the ads. A few representative examples:
By running a disciplined, Meta-led engine, leaning on model try-on and product shoot proof over polish, and optimising for realised revenue rather than vanity orders, Tulsi Studio Lifestyle turned paid acquisition into a consistent, trackable D2C engine — 150+ orders and ₹16L+ in sales across 6 months on ₹2.97 Lakh of ad spend, at a 5.45× Sales Campaign ROAS and a 7.15× peak season performance.
This partnership shows what’s possible when a genuinely craft-led designer label is paired with a disciplined, data-led digital growth engine. For Tulsi Studio, that meant turning distinctive Indian craftsmanship into a dependable, scalable growth channel — one BrandMonkey continues to refine every month.
